How to survive in a competitive space like Digital Marketing? Is it even profitable?

“It takes a day to learn marketing, but it takes life to master it”

Yes, many people are learning Digital Marketing nowadays and after two months of practice, they are calling themselves Digital Marketing Expert.

In this article, I will be mentioning how you can work differently from others to become a successful Digital Marketer.

I have been working in the digital marketing field for the last 4 years and I only work with three industries i.e Education Industry, Food Industry, and the Fashion Industry. When it comes to marketing I had never taken any project other than these three fields.

Now many of you will think, I am just decreasing my market share but not taking other Industry project but that is not true.

Let’s take two situations:-

. Situation One (Where we take all the industry Projects)

I approached a course selling company LinkedIn and said.

” Hello Sir, I have been working in the Digital Marketing Industry for the past 4 years and work with different brands. I can help you and your business to grow at an exponential rate, Our team is having an experience of different fields.”

(I believe you also must be getting the same messages on LinkedIn Every Day)

. Situation Two (Where we take only specific industry Projects)

I approached a course selling company LinkedIn and said.

” Hello Sir, I have been working in the Digital Marketing Industry for the past 4 years and have worked exclusively with 30+ course selling companies by now. Our company has sold more than 4 Million worth of course online through our Marketing Strategies. I can help you and your business to grow at an exponential rate”.

Now I wanted to ask you which of the following statement you find more convincing. Please share your views in the comment section. Maybe we both can learn something through that.

The answer to the question “How to survive in such a competitive space like Digital Marketing?” is by keep working in one industry and start gaining experience. You should know every bit of that industry like consumer behavior, competitor’s strategies, SWOT analysis of the industry, and most importantly how to sell the products and services in that industry.

Another important question:- How to gain experience?

> Work as an Inter in the industry you like and observe how the company is doing marketing for their clients.

> Start taking projects on your own as a freelancer, even if you are 0 profit.

By working on such a pattern you can genuinely help other businesses to grow. The day this happens, you will never have to send random messages on LinkedIn as I mentioned above. Businesses will approach you directly.

I have only done marketing for my first 7 clients. After that, business opportunities come to me through recommendation, Linkedin, and Quora. The reason for the growth is, we believe that until our client’s business will not grow, we will not grow.

Bottom Line:-

If you are doing Digital Marketing or planning to do Digital Marketing make sure to find a perfect Industry for yourself.

Because “It takes a day to learn marketing, but it takes life to master it”.
